I am going to briefly give you my opinion on the top 5 reasons why I think almost everyone in America should own and build a Network Marketing business.

There are certainly more reasons, but this is my top five.

5. Social aspects.

4. Becoming a business owner builds many other skills.

3. Diversify your income.

2. Talk about a Plan B.

1. One word for the number one reason: Taxes!!

So, let's take a look at these one at a time:

5. Social aspects. You say: "You've got to be kidding me...I don't need any more social activities, anyway, isn't that counter productive to building a business?" Well, maybe or maybe not. I have made some great friends while building my network marketing business. They are usually people with similar interests and aspirations so we tend to hit it off. Some have joined my business; some have not; some are in other businesses. I have had some great times on business trips, shared meals, etc. with these new friends. Bottom line is that I have a new circle of friends/associates with whom I socialize. Another thought on this...I personally have found that as I, um, age, it tends to be a little more awkward or difficult to make new and different friends.

4. New skills. Yes, as a new business owner in the Network Marketing industry, you will develop or improve some skills that will likely help you in other areas of your life. Specifically, you will learn to be confident in presenting your business and you may even present in front of a small or medium group. That helps not only your confidence, but also your presentation skills. As a Network Marketer you will also develop the skill of listening. We need to work new people in our organization and that starts with listening to their needs and desires.

3. Diversify your income. Diversification is NOT just for investments. In today's economy it is extremely important to have more than one source of income. Which is closely related to number 2...

2. Talk about a Plan B. Does the word "out sourced" mean anything to you? Has your company been through a "resource rebalance"? Or maybe they call it a "resource action". How about a good ole "layoff" or "you're fired"? Whatever way you look at it, unfortunately, there may be a time when you are forced to leave your job unwillingly. One of the best things about a Network Marketing business is that it can be built over time while you are working a full time job. It is an asset that you own and, ideally, will be a good source of income for many, many years.

1. Taxes!! Are you satisfied with the amount of federal, state, city, social security, etc. taxes that you are paying? Have you been hit with an AMT?? Ouch! A Network Marketing business is a legitimate business. If you own a Network Marketing business and work it with the full intent to make money, you get to take advantage of many of the legitimate tax advantages of business owners. In fact, under some circumstances, you may deduct income from another source against your business. How would you like some of your travel to be tax deductible? Or entertainment? I know someone who commutes 60 miles per day, 5 days per week to a corporate job. This person also owns a Network Marketing business. This person attempts to make each of those days a business day and therefore convert all of the commuting expenses to a legitimate tax deduction. How??? She simply talk about her Network Marketing business with someone while in the same area as her job each of those days. That talk can be a quick 5 minute conversation to ask for referrals, or ask someone to take home a DVD to view, etc. I am not a CPA, so check with an accountant before making any decisions.

So, there you have my top 5 reasons that I think anyone in America should own and earnestly try to build a Network Marketing business.
