Nokia Cell Phones have taken a different approach to advertising campaigns than many other American companies to date. While most companies will target the superstar musicians and movie stars of our time Nokia Cell Phones has taken their campaign by way of soccer. Because Nokia Cell Phones are sold internationally, as Unlocked GSM Cell Phones are common in Europe and South America, this really does seem a perfect match.

United States citizens will often forget that football, baseball and even basketball (with its current growing popularity world-wide) that none of these are the favorite sport internationally. Remember, don't be fooled by the name, the World Series means the North American Series. No, soccer, or futbol, is the prized international sport. Every country has a team and everyone wants their chance to win the World Cup. Win for your nation on an international stage.

So when Nokia put their not Unlocked GSM Cell Phones in the hands of Pele and Wayne Rooney, they knew the broad reach these name would have. Pele, maybe if not for Maradona's fall from grace, is the considered the greatest player ever. So great that even kids in the United States know the name. So when he's toting around Nokia Cell Phones, people take notice. Wayne Rooney, while not the star power, talent or recognizable name that is Pele, is a tremendous English player that is a common name in any soccer circles. And he is certainly as common throughout Europe as a Lebron James is throughout the United States.

Because soccer is such an international sport and not unlocked and Unlocked GSM Cell Phones are the international mobile device of choice, it seems all to perfect that Nokia has done this. And they seem to have done it in such a clever way. By getting Pele on board, they can touch on any group. But they can also hit an older crowd who remembers Pele in his glory days. Furthermore he can attract more on the American front, obviously in South America (as he is Brazilian) but North, too. Rooney can attract a younger audience as he is a current player. He also has more pull in Europe because he plays club and international ball there.

As is shown above, with just two endorsement deals Nokia Cell Phones is able to cover a lot of ground. With the exception of David Beckham and Landon Donovan soccer players are very much overlooked in American advertising, but maybe that should be changed sooner than later.
